Overview of the 3rd Silk Road Film Festival

    I. Introduction

    With a view to implementing the national strategy of “the Belt and Road", the “Silk Road International Film Festival” was established with the approval of the central government. Alternately hosted by Xi'an and Fuzhou annually since 2014, the inaugural Silk Road International Film Festival was successfully held in Xi’an in October 2014 and the second edition in Fuzhou from September 22 to 26, 2015. In its third year, the festival will return to Xi’an from September 19 to 23, 2016.

    II. Theme

    In line with the idea of being “International, Professional, Characteristic”, this year’s festival, themed "Film in Development, Culture with Diversity", will feature seven units including Opening Ceremony, Film Awards, Film Screening, Film Forum, Film Market, "the Belt and Road" Cultural Show, and Closing Ceremony & Award Ceremony, making it a cultural event with a broad base of public participation to comprehensively highlight the national strategy of “the Belt and Road” and showcase the characteristics of the Silk Road.

    III. Time and Venue

    The five-day Silk Road International Film Festival is scheduled to be held in Xi’an from September 19 to 23, 2016.
