On Aug.30,according to theSilk Road International Film Festival (Xi'an) Executive Committee of the 3rd Silk Road International Film Festival(SRIFF), this year’s SRIFF will be opened on Sep.19 with famous movie star Jackie Chan as the spokesman.
The SRIFFis the world’s only film festival named after the Silk Road. Sponsored the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China (SAPPRFT), the People's Government of Shaanxi Province and the Fujian Provincial People's Government, this annual festival has been held twice alternately in Xi’an and Fuzhou.
The 3rd SRIFF to be held in Xi’an during Sep. 19 and 23 will be with the theme of ”Film in Development, Culture with Diversity”will comprise such units as the Opening Ceremony, Film Awards, Film Screening, Film Forum, Film Market, Cultural Shown and Closing Ceremony &Award Ceremony and focus on reflecting the characteristic films and cultures of countries along “the Belt and Road”to realize cultural exchange and the communication between the peoples in countries along ”theBelt and Road”and to positively build a golden platform for the development of China’s film and TV industry.
Through 45 years of efforts since the entry to the film industry as a stunt man in 1971, Jackie Chan has now been a Kung Fu superstar known even to everyone. In 1995, Jackie Chan successfully broke through the door to Hollywood with Rumble in the Bronx. In 1998, Jackie Chan established his status as a top star in Hollywood by starring Rush Hours.
Jackie Chan has deep association with the SRIFF. He has been the spokesman of the second SRIFF and sang Desert Hero, theme song of Dragon Bladeat the opening ceremony.
According to Jackie Chan, he feels honored for being the spokesman of the 3rdSRIFF. He sends kind invitation to film practitioners around the world: “The Silk Road connects the world; films of the Silk Road Film Festival show splendid cultures. Please pay attention to the 3rd Silk Road International Film Festival. Hello, I’m Jackie Chan, and I’m waiting for you in Xi’an.”
The 3rd SRIFF is dedicated to enhancing its level of internationalization and focusing on the development of the film industry in countries along “theBelt and Road”, sufficiently showcasing the “international standard, elements of the Silk Road and characteristics of Shaanxi” and promoting the strategy of Chinese film industry to “go global” and “bring in” outstanding international films. As the spokesman of this year’s SRIFF, the status of Jackie Chan as an international superstar agrees with the “international style” of the SRIFF perfectly.
In addition, Jackie Chan has gradually moved to the backstage in recent years and cultivating new talent has become his primary task. For the SRIFF, innovation is another major mission. The SRIFF, with film as the tie, calls together outstanding film practitioners in the ancient city of Xi’an for continuous promotion of the cultural exchange and interaction among countries and cities along the Silk Road. Jackie Chan’s acting as its spokesman perfectly highlights the connotation and essence of the SRIFF.
